Allan M Robertson DipBS FRICS FCIArb IMaPS
Allan is a Chartered Building Surveyor, a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS), and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb). He is also an Incorporated Member of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPS).
In July 2013 Allan set up his own business – Allan Robertson Consulting Limited.
Allan graduated from Glasgow College of Building and Printing in 1982 and has since worked in private practice professional offices in both Glasgow and Edinburgh although his work has taken him all over the UK and various locations in mainland Europe.
The bulk of his experience over the years has been in commercial building surveying. He has previously worked for Colin Robertson Graham & Partners (Bearsden), Bell-Ingram (Edinburgh), Capita (Edinburgh), Thomas and Adamson (Edinburgh), and Watts Group PLC (Edinburgh). Allan has a broad based experience on a wide variety of property types including historic, commercial (offices, retail, industrial, and leisure), residential, healthcare, education, and transportation.
He has a strong track record in dilapidations work, technical due diligence, and is an experienced building defects analyst. He also has experience in providing expert witness services in both criminal and civil/commercial cases, along with various appointments as independent expert determiner or as arbitrator, usually in connection with dilapidations or building defects matters. He has received appointments from the RICS, the CIArb, The Law Society of Scotland, the Courts in Scotland, and parties direct.

Allan is a Past Chairman of RICS Scotland (2005/2006), has served on numerous RICS working groups and committees, and was an RICS BS APC Chairman and Assessor for many years.
Allan is a former editor of the Dilapidations and Building Surveying sections of the Scottish Surveyor’s Factbook, published by W Green/Thomson Reuters, the Scottish Law Publisher.
Allan co-authored the RICS Guidance Note Dilapidations in Scotland 1st Edition, published in January 2011, and the 2nd Edition published in March 2015. He also co-authored the RICS Professional Statement and Guidance Note Surveyors acting as expert witnesses in Scotland, 1st Edition, published in August 2015
He regularly presents on his area of expertise at various conferences and higher education institutions.
